As I sit here writing this, I am sipping a delicious cup of coffee, looking out the front window of the house. What do I see? Snow! All of Minnesota is in an uproar over this April 10th snow storm.
For me, it was a great day to take off of work, so I can study for my finals this weekend – because I am the biggest procrastinator. So as I sit here, procrastinating even more, watching the snow, and listening to the wind, I am reminded of a scripture, and a simple song, that I am sure we all know.
“Oh Precious is the Flow
That makes me white as snow
No other fount I know
Nothing but the blood of Jesus.”
Next week, we will be celebrating Easter! As much fun as it is, Easter isn’t about the bunnies, the candy, or the egg hunts. This holiday comes around every year, as a reminder of the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. This blanket of snow on the ground is a reminder of the cleansing power the blood of Jesus holds for us.
A sinless man went to the cross, so all of humanity could be saved! You may ask, “Even Me?” – YES, even you!
“Though your sins are like scarlet,Isaiah 1:18 NLT
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.”
As we get closer and closer to Easter, I want all of my readers to know, that there is nothing in this world that can separate you from God’s love. Have you made mistakes? Guess what, so have I! We are human beings, not made to be perfect, mistakes are going to happen.
The beauty in all of this, is that you can turn to God with a repentant heart, and He will forgive you of your sins. There is no sin too great, that the Lord won’t forgive.
The Lord is compassionate and merciful,Psalm 103: 8-18 NLT
slow to get angry and filled with unfailing love.
He will not constantly accuse us,
nor remain angry forever.
He does not punish us for all our sins;
he does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
For his unfailing love toward those who fear him
is as great as the height of the heavens above the earth.
He has removed our sins as far from us
as the east is from the west.
The Lord is like a father to his children,
tender and compassionate to those who fear him.
For he knows how weak we are;
he remembers we are only dust.
Our days on earth are like grass;
like wildflowers, we bloom and die.
The wind blows, and we are gone—
as though we had never been here.
But the love of the Lord remains forever
with those who fear him.
His salvation extends to the children’s children
of those who are faithful to his covenant,
of those who obey his commandments!”
If want to challenge you all today – lean into the unchanging love of Jesus, let Him love you. Instead of negatively looking at this snow – we are all human, I know that is the first thought that comes to mind – Be reminded of the precious blood of Jesus, that washed us white as snow, it cleanses our minds, hearts, and lives. Take a moment to think, where would we be without the love of Jesus?
As we gear up for this Easter season, know that Christ died on the cross because He loves YOU. Now, it is our turn to make a decision – Are we going to lean into Him, love Him, trust Him, and serve Him? Or are we going to turn from Him?
“But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”Romans 5:8 NKJV
I pray this will challenge you all today. If you are looking for a church to attend on Easter, reach out to me, I can help connect you to a church in your area!
