The Journey Begins

Hello!

Thanks for joining me on this new journey. As 2018 is coming to a close, I have been reflecting, and thinking about what I want to do to make 2019 a better year. Before we can jump to 2019, why don’t I share a little bit about this past year …

When I think of the year 2018, the few words that come to mind are; Hurt, Change, Loss, and Wearisome. A few days into 2018, my husband was hospitalized for a severe mental health episode. We were newly married, I had never experienced anything like this before, and I had to figure everything out. The paramedics took my husband via ambulance to a hospital 90 min away, because there were no available beds at one of the many hospitals in the Twin Cities. The nurse gave me his belongings, and told me nothing about where he was taken. I walked out of the emergency room feeling empty, hurt, and lost. The drive home that night felt like an eternity. I wanted to scream at God, and ask Him why He would allow this to happen.

I called on Your name, O LordFrom the lowest pit. You have heard my voice: Do not hide Your ear From my sighing, from my cry for help. You drew near on the day I called on You, And said, “Do not fear!”  Lamentations 3:55-57

From that moment, things begun to spin out of control. In this year, Jurgen lost his job, we lost our apartment, gained many debts, and most of all strained our marriage.

Through all of this – I knew God was standing by my side. There was no way I could have made it through this year without God giving me the strength.

I am not sharing this with you to get pity, I am sharing this with you to let you know – Whatever you are going through, whether you are in the valley staring at the mountain before you, or if you’re coming down from your mountain top – You will get through this. My faith this year has grown exponentially.

I pray that every tear drop that fell this year, will grow into something beautiful in 2019.

This blog is meant to speak faith. You may see recipes, see some of my experiences throughout the year, but everything you read on here will speak faith. I am by no means an expert on life, or faith, but I hope you will come along this faith journey with me

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation,  and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay.  And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. So be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead, even though you must endure many trials for a little while. These trials will show that your faith is genuine. It is being tested as fire tests and purifies gold—though your faith is far more precious than mere gold. So when your faith remains strong through many trials, it will bring you much praise and glory and honor on the day when Jesus Christ is revealed to the whole world. You love him even though you have never seen him. Though you do not see him now, you trust him; and you rejoice with a glorious, inexpressible joy. The reward for trusting him will be the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:3-9

  1. Beautiful! “So be truly glad.” It is so hard to practice that when we are in the valley.
I look forward to following your blog. And I know that every one of those tears, past and present, God will use to grow flowers in the beautiful garden of your life. Thank you for sharing your pain and experiences. In doing so, we all learn of God’s grace and know He is with us, in whatever we go through. And it is good to know we are not alone. Love you, Mag!💕
